It is important that before you travel you get the most upto date travel guidelines available. The best Swine Flu travel advice can be seen at both the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website or The World Health Organisation site.
Please bear in mind that is either the FCO or the WHO advises against travelling to any destination then unfortunately your travel insurance policy will not cover you. If you have any concerns then you MUST check both the FCO and WHO websites for updates.
If you have been diagnosed with Swine Flu by a medical practitioner prior to travelling or if you have been quarantined by a medical practitioner then our policies cover you for cancellation of your holiday. It is important to note that you must have X1 Sports Insurance cover prior to being diagnosed with Swine Flu.
*(Our Standard Policy does NOT cover travel cancellation. This cover is only available with our Essential, Essential Plus or Superior Travel Policy)
In summary: if you have the relevant X1 Sports Insurance cover prior to going on holiday then contract Swine Flu before departure and are unable to travel, you will be covered for the cancellation of your holiday.
However if you decide not to travel without being diagnosed with Swine Flu then you will not be covered for the cancellation of your holiday.
X1 Sports Insurance will provide the relevant cover under the Medical section i.e. if you are unable to fly home or confined to your accommodation (Quarantined) for fear of passing on the virus to others. It is important to get prior confirmation from the assistance company however once this is confirmed the costs of accommodation and return flights will be met.
