How do I make a claim?

If you have suffered a loss of personal belongings or have incurred medical expenses you will need to contact your travel insurance claims company upon your return of holiday, before calling insure that what you are claiming for is covered under the terms and conditions of your policy, is you can not claim for lost or stolen luggage on the travel insurance policy if you have taken a basic policy, it is important that you make sure you have the proper cover in place before starting your journey. Once you have contacted the claims company they will identify your needs and send you out a claims form to that effect, please also note that the claims company will need to prove that you are injured to claim, therefore.

  1. Make sure you have your policy number and your policy details as you will be required to send these through
  2. Always insure that you get proof of your loss or medical claim, i.e. police reports or medical bills etc.
  3. It is important that you read the terms and conditions of the policy, i.e. some claims company will not honour a claim if you do not register this within 30 days of you retuning from your journey.
  4. Always make sure that the conditions are old for new or equivalent

A typical claim is settled within 3 weeks, this is because, with a medical claim, the hospitals or medical practitioners have yet to forward the invoices, or because the claims company are still waiting further information to complete the claim.
