Cycle Touring Insurance

Online Quote

What better way to combine a sight seeing holiday with getting fresh air and keeping fit? Cycle touring is a great way of seeing more of the countryside than you would if you were just walking around and hiking. You can cover as much as 60 miles a day on a bike, depending on your levels of fitness of course, and that enables you to see so much more of the local countryside. Obviously compared to being in a car you have the opportunity to stop off and take pictures at any given moment too plus it's much healthier and far better for the environment too.

There are obviously inherent risks associated to cycle touring which make it important to have cycle touring insurance. First and foremost there are the injures that can sustained from cycling such as torn muscles, hernias and even back injury from sitting in the same position for a long time. On top of that there is also the risk of falling off the bike too. If you do fall of your bike you can cut yourself, break bones or even cause more serious injuries such as trauma to your head and spine. Both of the two latter injuries can be extremely expensive if treatment is required especially if you need to be picked up and repatriated. As you are travelling round the countryside the final potential risk is of being hit on the road by a car. Needless to say the damage could be pretty significant.

Cycle touring insurance has been graded a level 2 sport because of the potential risks associated to it. It is clear that you definitely need to have the right level of activity cover when you go cycle touring.
