If you want to add a certain element of risk into your holiday and spice things up to maximum then there is perhaps no better way than by jumping out of an aeroplane. To be honest the simple question though is why you would want to jump out if a perfectly normal, safe plane with a bit of canvass strapped to your back.
As you would imagine the idea of jumping out of a plane is fraught with risk. There are numerous things that can go wrong and because of the heights and speeds involved they are often very serious. If you have a slightly off centre landing you can easily sprain ankles or perhaps even break legs however is anything was to go wrong in the air then the consequences can be much more serious. If for example your parachute fails, you collide into something or you get carried away in a current or wind then you could suffer anything from back injuries, broken necks or even death.
However the reassuring thing is that by going in a tandem you have a professional along for the ride. Needless to say you have training to explain to you exactly what you must do while you are in the air and landing but you are reassured by the fact that the person you are with is not knowingly going to put themselves at risk.
X1 Sports Insurance has graded tandem Skydiving as a level 3 high risk sport because of the potential for injury. Furthermore you are limited to doing 2 jumps a year.
