Imagine the thrill of flying high over the ground, suspended in the air looking around at the fabulous scenery below. What better way is there to see pastures new than high up in the sky with the vista beneath with nothing to get in the way?
As you can imagine when considering the nature of this sport it can be pretty dangerous. There are quite a few different reasons and stages in the process that can contribute to the danger such as when you land, take off and even by collisions in the air. If you are slightly off when landing it could lead to a rather heavy impact with the ground therefore potentially leading to bruising, breaks or even something more serious. Furthermore depending on the wind, air currents and weather conditions it could also be possible to crash into something while airborne such as trees, pylons and maybe even buildings. Again there is no limit to what injuries can be caused.
As a direct result of these risks X1 Sports has graded paragliding as a Grade 3 risk sport. It is very important to make sure that you have got the right level of cover for this activity to cover any eventuality.
In order to reduce the potential level of risk it is very important to make sure that you are going with a reputable and safe company. It is imperative that their equipment is well looked after and in good condition and that they have all the required safety precautions and qualifications in place.
