Parasailing over land is very similar to its close cousin parasailing over water. As with the over water activity you are towed behind a vehicle but this time it is either a truck or a snow mobile. As hard to imagine as it sounds parasailing is obviously as dangerous as it sounds. There are numerous hazards involved with the sport as you can imagine.
When you entwine the following elements of motor power, wind power, speed, height and land I is a recipe for a potential disaster. Injuries can come in all shapes and sizes ranging from simple cuts and bruises to broken arms and legs and then even to things as serious as paralysis, seizures and possible death. The obvious causes of these are hitting the ground at speed during landing, hitting high objects such as power lines, the parachute getting entangled and then of course losing control in some way. Parasailing over land is an extreme sport with a high risk of injury and is therefore regarded as a Grade 4 hazardous sport.
When thinking about whether or not to do the activity you should investigate the history and safety precautions of the company you are using. You always use a professional outfit with a good reputation and with the relevant licenses in place and safety precautions and facilities.. The equipment should always be in good repair and well looked after.
Parasailing is a fantastic and exhilarating way to get around and see the countryside. It is very popular in Scandinavian countries and Germany where you can do it behind a variety of different vehicles depending on the season.
