Whenever you go away for a summer holiday nine times out of ten you end up going to a beach. Obviously there are loads of different things you do to pass the time on a beach like, sun bathing, paddling, tennis etc but perhaps one of the most relaxing and rewarding is to go snorkelling. If you don't know what snorkelling is then you will be amazed at what such a simple idea can suddenly open up in front of you. By being able to swim with your head under the water and breathing a whole new world suddenly becomes accessible. Although not a rewarding as diving snorkelling allows you to get that little bit closer to the underwater world than just swimming and with no qualifications needed either. But why would you need snorkelling insurance though? There are some pretty serious risks associated with snorkelling and that is why you should make sure that you have the right snorkelling insurance for your trip. It is very easy to get so immersed in the world beneath you that you can get caught up in currents and waves leading to you being swept out to sea which can obviously be very dangerous. You are also open to the elements such as cold water, wind and sudden changes in conditions which could cause weaker swimmers problems. Finally there is always the risk of being hit by a boat as you are on the surface or hitting your head on a rock perhaps when you are ducking down under the surface of the water. All of these incidents could prove very costly as a rescue may be needed or even hospital treatment. X1 Sports Insurance has graded non incidental snorkelling insurance as a grade 2 level sport.
