Trekking between 2000 metres and 4000 metres altitude Insurance

So, what is the difference between trekking and rambling? Basically the main difference is the fact that when you are trekking you are also incorporating an over night stay too. This would involve either sleeping in a tent or in a specially made hut like and alpine retreat or similar.

One of the main reasons why trekking between 2000- 4000m insurance is required is because of the altitude. When you go up a mountain the air becomes thinner. The stress that you put on your body therefore becomes more. This is further enhanced and magnified because of the physical exertion that is required to get up that high and climb the slopes. The direct result of the air becoming thinner is that your body struggles to absorb the required amount of oxygen into the body. This therefore has a direct effect on the body's physical performance levels and makes any activity harder. You will fatigue quicker and therefore be prone to making mistakes. Consequently it is vitally important that you have the requisite safety gear to insure against accidents.

It is also important to note that as you get higher the temperature gets lower but the suns rays get more powerful. It is possible to succumb to severe sun stoke without realising it. Given the nature of the terrain too on the mountains injuries like twisted ankles, sprained wrists etc are possible too so you will need to make sure that every eventuality is covered in case you need to be rescued.

Given the medium level risk X1 Sports has graded trekking between 2000m and 4000m insurance at level 2.
