Hurling is traditionally an Irish sport however it is becoming more and more popular in different countries now. It is a full contact sport that is fast, aggressive and physical; consequently it is recommended that you have hurling insurance if you want to participate. As well as the physical nature of the sport there is also the stick and ball to contend with. If you were to receive a blow from either of these then it could cause both serious pain and therefore injury. It is key therefore to make sure that you have hurling insurance if you need to get treatment. Injuries in the sport could include cuts and lacerations that might need stitches, or even bruises, sprains and breaks that would require longer treatment and even physio post trauma.
Broken bones can often be more serious for the impact that they have post accident. For example depending on your job or type of employment a broken finger or leg can cause a major disruption to your everyday routine. Furthermore if you are abroad, generally in Ireland, and you suffer an injury then treatment would incur further charges. While you are away it is vitally important to have hurling insurance just in case.
There are obviously inherent risks and dangers involved in playing a sport like Hurling, as there are with most contact sports, consequently X1 Sports has rated hurling as a grade 2 level sport.
